Current Positions Available:

ADULT SERVICES PROGRAM MANAGER - POSTED MAY 2020

This is a full time position reporting directly to the Executive Director.  The Manager is responsible for the management and operation of the Connections Day Program and the Semi-Independent Living Skills Program.  He/She will be able to work effectively with a variety of professionals, other staff and have excellent rapport with community members.  The Manager works with Staff to ensure that program planning and program development meet the needs of the persons served.  The Manager ensures that programs meet CLBC and CARF standards.  This opportunity will be open until filled and only those scheduled for an interview will be contacted. 

 

SUPPORT WORKERS

The Port Alberni Association for Community Living is currently accepting applications for casual support workers.

Successful applicants will have a Community Service Worker certificate/diploma or a combination of education or experience working with adults with developmental disabilities. Other requirements include a current Emergency First Aid / CPR Certificate, necessary immunizations and a satisfactory Criminal Records Search through the Solicitor General of BC.  Applicants must be available for days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays and be willing to support individuals with daily living skills, personal care and activities in the community.  Successful applicants will also be required to have a Class 4 Drivers License prior to completion of their probationary period (six months).

HOMESHARE PROVIDERS

Home Sharing is a living arrangement whereby an individual, couple, and/or family shares their home with an adult with a developmental disability and supports them in their daily lives. Home Sharing usually involves supporting one adult with a developmental disability but providers can support two (at maximum) in unique situations.

PAACL is currently looking for caring, skilled, inclusive people to provide full time, respite, and emergency respite home sharing to adults with developmental disabilities who may have complex behavioural and/or personal care needs.

As the people we support are diverse in lifestyle, age, and desires for living arrangements; we are looking for: Single Men, Single Women, Couples, Families, People from the Port Alberni Region, People with experience with challenging behaviours, homes in all shapes and sizes (with or without suites),Wheelchair accessible homes, and People with experience performing personal care.
