Areas of focus and support are Life Skills, Social and Peer Interaction, Recreation & Leisure activities, Youth Transition Planning, Community Access & Inclusion as well as Parent/Caregiver support and Resource Awareness. Youth Transition Planning offers support for those who will transition from school into adult services. Transition planning can start as early as age 14 which can help ease the stress for youth, parents and caregivers. Family Support Workers can assist with filing for BCID, Social Insurance numbers or Disability Assistance applications. PAACL also acts as a “Community Connector” to CLBC to determine eligibility for adult services in the community when the youth turns 19 years of age.
