“Everybody Belongs” is more than just a tagline for us. It is the heart of everything we do at the Port Alberni Association for Community Living. For 67 years, we have worked to make our town a place where every single person feels welcome and valued.

Breaking Down Barriers

We believe that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve the exact same chances as anyone else. Everyone deserves a safe home, a rewarding job, and great friends. Our team works hard to remove barriers so the people we serve can live full and happy lives right here in our community.

Finding Pride in Work

Having a job gives people a huge sense of pride. It helps them build independence and meet new neighbours. We work with local businesses to match them with unique and talented workers. When our community opens its doors to inclusive hiring, everyone wins. We are very proud to be a top employer in the valley, and we want to share that success by helping the people we serve find great jobs too.

Building Real Friendships

Being part of a community means getting out and having fun. Our programs help adults explore the Alberni Valley. They volunteer at local events, visit local parks, and make real friendships. You will often see our groups out and about, enjoying all the colourful things our town has to offer.
